Project Based Learning(PBL) is a trending educational methodology. It is focused on practical and challenging problem solving that allows students to learn in real context. This methodology turns students into problem solvers, researchers and creative thinkers, creating a significant learning experience for them. Let’s go over some of the benefits of PBL in education:
- It offers students to connect what they learn and their skills with real life situations. This allows them to comprehend how to apply their prior knowledge to everyday situations.
- PBL promotes the development of key skills such as problem solving, collaboration and effective communication.
- Stimulates creativity and innovation in students when they are challenged to find solutions to the problems they face in their projects.
- Developes autonomy and responsibility in students by taking ownership to their learning process establishing goals, decision making and time management. All this reinforces their skill to auto-regulate during their life.
In conclusion, Project Based Learning offers a variety of benefits to students. By connecting their learning process to the real world, developing skills, motivation, collaboration, creativity among other necessary skills to face the challenges of today’s society. The main goal is to make active learners who are committed to be a part of their learning process.
